Class Session
Session 1
Game Mode: Acting for Video Games
About This Event
ABOUT THIS WEEK:
Game Mode - Session 1: The High View We'll dig into scripts from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to learn how to diagnose the "High Level" of a scene beat by beat, and then zoom into your particular character's intentions & tactics.
HOMEWORK INFO & INSTRUCTIONS:
Week 1 HW instructions can be found here.
Step 1: Download the Script and Preparation
- Download the blank script provided by the instructor.
- Chris has marked the beats for you, and there are brief breakdowns of all characters.
- Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat, a free PDF editor like PDFgear, or access to Google Docs for the next steps.
Step 2: Labeling Sections
-
Open the script using Adobe Acrobat, PDFgear, or Google Docs.
-
Label each section in the script as demonstrated in class. There are two key elements to label:
a. The High Level - What’s metaphorically happening in the beat. Keep it active and engaging.
b. The Characters’ Intentions - Describe how the characters are engaging with each other under the umbrella of the high level.
- If you need assistance with thinking of actions, you can refer to the Kindle version of "Actions: The Actor’s Thesaurus" available online.
-
Make sure you accurately label each section based on these criteria.
Step 3: Uploading the Labeled Script
- Once you've labeled each section of the script, save your changes.
- Upload the labeled script to our designated class folder. Ensure it is easily accessible for the instructor to review.
You can submit your homework via the link on the weekly Class Session page (where the video recording is)
