Make Your Auditions Stand Out!

Tons of mic time!  This is NOT lecture based - it's all hands/voices on!  

Time to ace those auditions and stand out from the rest.  Test your audtiion skills in various genres.  Work on audition skills, tips and techniques using scripts/auditions provided for you or bring in your own current auditions and have them directed by our own VOChef Deb - an award winning 30 year veteran of the voice world.

Learn what you need to do to stand out in this aggressive market, from a talent who's not afraid to tell it like it is!

    A strong emphasis is on reading the mind of your client and showing them that not only are you a good speaker, but you also know how to listen to their needs.  Honouring the client.

    Deb Munro is an award winning veteran of the online world working from home for most of her career, with over 30 years experience as a Voice Actor/Casting/Director and 20 years as a coach.   

    While Deb is best known for her roles as ‘Mai’ in the animated series “DragonBall and DragonBall GT”, ‘Carla Carumba’ in the series “Benjamin The Elephant”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” video game for Disney, “NeverWinters Night” with Bioware, ‘Bustiana’ in the Gundarr series, characters in the series “Marco Polo”, ‘Richard’ in BusyTownMysteries, “True Pulp Murder” narrator and so much more, Deb has her hands in many aspects of the industry.  

    Currently the voice for “Makeful TV”, "Homeful TV", "LovePets", “ABC15”, ‘Granny’ in “Turbo Fantasy”, “StackApp”, “Planet Fitness”, “Wayfair”, “Scotiabank”, “Winners”, "Walmart", "Volkswagon", “Voice of Ring Central”, Imaging Voice for several radio stations, thousands of narrations, national commercials, talking technology, message on hold and more. 

    Not only is Deb a highly respected and recognized talent, she likes to give back and has been able to do so by teaching voice acting/acting worldwide for the past 20 years.   A voice talent first, she brings in her own personal experience and uniquely honest approach that tells it like it is without sugar coating and false promises, helping thousands of talents succeed this craft quickly and successfully.

Course Outline

01

Class One - The Audition (Commercial)

You will all be given a commercial audition ahead of time and you will perform it on your own and submit for the live class. After given feedback - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your strengths and weaknesses and what we have to work on.  You will then be assigned the following week's audition and will record this as part of your homework.  If there is time left in class we will work on more auditions

Class Two - The Authentic Read Audition

You will all be given your second audition (focused on the authentic read) following the first class (or you can work on an audition of your choice)  You will record it on your own and submit via the homework portal for the live class. After given feedback - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your insights into a natural read and show us what we have to work on.  You will then be assigned the following week's audition and will record this as part of your homework.  If there is time left in class we will work on more auditions

Class Three - The Professional Audition

You will all be given your third audition - focused on the professional read. (or you can work on an audition of your choice)  You will record it on your own and submit via the homework portal for the live class. After given feedback in class - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your insights into the professional read and show us what we have to work on.  You will then be assigned the following week's audition and will record this as part of your homework.

Class Four - The Animation Audition

You will all be given your Forth audition - focused on animation/character reads. (or you can work on an audition of your choice)  You will record it on your own and submit via the homework portal for the live class. After given feedback in class - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your insights into how you bring your characters to life based on the clients specs provided and show us what we have to work on.  You will then be assigned the following week's audition and will record this as part of your homework.   If there is time left in class we will work on more auditions

Class Five - Video Game Audition

You will all be given your Fifth audition - focused on Video Game Auditions. (or you can work on an audition of your choice)  You will record it on your own and submit via the homework portal for the live class. After given feedback in class - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your insights into the world of video games and will show us what we have to work on.  You will then be assigned your final audition and will record this as part of your homework.  If there is time left in class we will work on more auditions

Class Six - Your Final Audition

You will all be given your final audition - This will be a monster of a script with multiple characters from realistic to over the top.  You will record it on your own prior to class and submit via the homework portal for the live class. After given feedback in class - you will get a chance at a redirect. This will give a good gage into your insights into scripts with multiple characters and what you can do to stand out amongst the rest.  We will choose one winner in this class and produce this audition and send back to the winning talent. (Prizes will be awarded)

Course Schedule

2-3 hours per week
  • Tuesdays

    9PM-11:00PM EST

    Our live sessions happen every Tuesday evening from 9 - 11:00 (ish) p.m.  If you cannot make a class you can still participate and will still get feedback on your auditions. 
  • January - February

    Tuesdays 9PM-11:00PM EST

    This is a 6 week program

  • Homework

    About 1-2 hours per week

    Each week you will be assigned your next audition.  Record your audition and upload to the homework portal.  Put some good efforts into this record - treat it as a real audition.  The last class will be a REAL audition.

What happens if I miss a class?
We will record the live session for you to review.
What is your refund policy?
No refunds. Please be sure you want to take the course before you purchase it.
Do I have to turn on my video during sessions?
If you are uncomfortable showing your face on video, you don’t have to. It is helpful for instructors to watch your gestures and your movements in order to properly assess you as a student, but it’s not required.
